Vacation in Florida ~ Part One
Wednesday, September 30th, 2009We usually take one vacation a year and we kept putting it off this year because other things always seemed more important. We had also decided during our trip last December that we would not take Madeline to Disney again until she was 3 or so. Well when Andre’s parents mentioned that they were having dinner at Cinderella’s castle the day before Andre’s birthday, it seemed like a great place to have a family gathering and we decided to join them.
We’re now thrilled that we made the trip at this age with Madeline. She had a blast and definitely knew that Disney was a place made for people her size.
Dinner in the castle was fun. Cinderella met with each guest prior to dinner and Madeline was more than willing to visit with the princess. Then during dinner the godmother and mice came out to sing and dance. Madeline met Susie the mouse and enjoyed playing with her nose, fur and hands. Little did we know that this was only the beginning to Madeline going character crazy!
Andre’s parents also ordered a cake for his birthday and Madeline was more than willing to help eat the cake. The birthday song wasn’t even done and she was already running her fingers through the icing and eating it. Occasionally after the cake was served, we would look at her and she would be sneaking a chunk of the cake off of the platter. It was very cute to see her try to be sly and think she was outwitting everyone at the table.
We also took Madeline on her first amusement park rides. She went on the carousel, It’s a Small World and Peter Pan. She seemed to enjoy looking at everything and pointed at different things we saw and babbled as we made our way through the rides.
