Off to Church

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

It’s such a fun time in our household. Madeline is doing something new fairly often. Her personality keeps emerging and she is just a neat little person all around. Her new thing is waving and it’s fun to watch her get excited as she waves frantically.

We were having dinner one night at a new Japanese restaurant and she waved at this one waitress every time she entered the room. But the cutest wave occurred one of the first times she ever waved. Jennifer was on the phone with Andre’ and had him on speaker phone so Madeline could talk to him. From across the room she came walking and started waving and saying “dada.”

First Walking Shoes

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Since Madeline has started walking around more, we decided that it was time to buy her a pair of real shoes. These shoes are made for walking. After church on Sunday, we took her to a shoe store and had her fitted for a pair of shoes. She apparently has short wide feet. Well, wide is definitely in line with us, but SHORT? Andre’ wears a 13 and Jennifer wears a 10 usually, but has found some 8.5-9.5’s that fit.

So, the lady goes back and gets this adorable little pair of shoes, we put them on Madeline and what does she do? She sits down on the floor and throws a tantrum. The lady asks us what she thinks and Jennifer responds, “Well I like them, but I am not sure she does.”  We decided to buy them thinking she would get used to them. After all she has not worn shoes much. We mainly used them in the winter when going out to add a layer to her feet.

That evening after the stress of shoe shopping should have been off of her mind, we put the shoes back on her and put her on the floor standing up. She just stood there for several minutes without moving and looked up at us like “what would you like me to do now exactly?”

Madeline has started getting used to her shoes. It did take several days for her to even take a step in them. But she finally started walking again.
