Madeline Casts Her Ballot
Yesterday was an exciting day for us. And while Madeline doesn’t know what happened, it’s something we’re looking forward to sharing with her in the future. The act of voting is very important in this household and so it was fun to vote as a family for the first time.
Madeline spent the 35 minutes waiting in line in her kangaroo pouch. She spent most of her time looking around and smiling at people.
Jennifer and Madeline were finished first and waited outside the church for Andre’ to finish. While waiting, an older gentleman approached Jennifer and said "it’s very different to vote when you have a little one, isn’t it." She agreed. And he went on to say, "it’s even harder now that I have great grandchildren to think about." It certainly does put this into perspective and Jennifer has acknowledged now that she had never thought her vote alone was that important. But yesterday as she clicked "Cast Ballot," it did feel very different.
