Week Twenty-Seven

Since we decided to delay solids until 6 months, with the exception of the rice cereal we started at 5 months, Madeline tasted her first veggies this week. We began with carrots, which she wasn’t all that excited about at first. But now she seems to be tolerating them more. We also started sweet peas later in the week. They are still not high on her list of favorite things. We’ve read that it can take up to 15 tastes for a child to like something. So we’re hoping that with patience, she will get her mommy’s love of veggies. She has also gotten quite good at opening her mouth for food, signaling that she is ready to eat when the spoon approaches. We’re also doing sippy cup "training," which isn’t going so well. She’s not too keen on the taste of water, highly diluted apple juice or even formula from a cup (it must taste different or something).
